Message from Your Community League Board Winter 2025
Winter 2025

We held our AGM in October and on behalf of the previous and new board members, we extend our thanks and appreciation to outgoing members Mark Tofsrud, Rebeccah VanBoven and Rory Lee. Mark has been a board member for 15 years and has led the renovations of the community centre for the past 12 years. Not only did Mark lead the renovations he also provided us with his expertise in building design. The good news is that Mark will stay on with the Hall Maintenance Committee. Rebeccah has been a board member for 5 years and has served on a variety of committees including the Civics Committee and the Social and Recreation Committee. Rebeccah was instrumental in getting our swim program at Grant MacEwan these past few years. Rory has been a board member for 3 years, also served in a variety of positions, including being on the Communications Committee and lastly held the Vice President role. Rory has been coordinating and producing our newsletter and managing our website for over 3 years and we are grateful to have Rory stay on to help us with communications. We want to welcome new to the board this year, Travis Nesdole and Janice Tofsrud who are members at large and Kaitlin Woods who is our new Vice President.
We were successful in receiving a matching grant from the Government of Alberta. This grant will help ensure we have proper HVAC, ensure our furnace room is updated, update the second floor, change our skate room for increased storage and use and to assist us in getting a new shed. These changes have already started, and you will see more work going into the spring. We want to thank the Government of Alberta for helping us ensure we have a safe and updated community centre for our community members to gather.
We will be having two rinks this year, the large one and a small one. Please follow social media and our website for opening dates and user times.
With the holiday season coming up quickly we want to recognize that you may be celebrating Krampusnacht, Christmas (in December or January), Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa. The Woodcroft Board of Directors wishes everyone a terrific holiday season and Happy New Year! For those of you not celebrating a special holiday season, please know you are always welcome to join us in our festive events.
