Message from Your Community League Board of Directors Fall 2025
fall 2025

Neighbourhoods and communities go through a life cycle that
often has different stages including growth, stability, decline and
revitalization. Depending on how long you have been in Woodcroft you may have been through numerous of these life cycles or you may be someone who is new to the community. Factors that influence the life cycle are demographics such as changes in the population size, age and who makes up a household. Economic conditions also influence the cycle as does the development in the community. Another key factor is community engagement. Woodcroft is changing as we have many of the factors that influence the life cycle. Developments have caused growth by the addition of an apartment at Brentwood and the multi-family housing to the north of Brentwood. As people age they often move out of the
community and new families move in.
The community league board also goes through life cycles and at
this point we are declining in members. The community league board ensures there is a meeting space for the community members by having a community centre, a playground and spray park and a community garden. We host events to bring community members together to meet up with friends and meet new community members. It is proven, if you know your neighbours and people in your neighbourhood, it helps decrease crime as people watch out for each other and recognize something that is not right. We need help to keep the community league board and the many committees running. The time commitment varies depending on what
you are looking to do. Our board is a volunteer board, our committees are made up of volunteers, and we also have individual volunteers helping us out in different ways. You may see some of our events that we have hosted for years not being offered as we do not have the help needed to run them. Our board encourages everyone to get to know your neighbours, come out to the events we host and to consider helping your community, it can be as little as a few hours a month.
