Waste Management Workshops

The City of Edmonton's waste system is getting a makeover this spring. Join Woodcroft resident and volunteer with the City of Edmonton's Master Composter Recycler program, Christie Hutchinson, for two informative online sessions on recycling and composting.

1. Recycling Demystified!

Many of us have stood over our recycling bins the night before collection day puzzling over what goes where. (Can I recycle this pizza box or not? What about this plastic bag? Why is this so hard?!) Find out what can (and can’t) be recycled in Edmonton, learn the golden rules of recycling, and find out why “wish-cycling” does more harm than good. Have questions about specific items? Ask during the Q&A.

Date: Saturday, May 29th

Time: 10:00-11:30am

Where: Online

Cost: Free

2. Organics Carts & Composting Basics

Residential food scraps carts will begin rolling into Woodcroft this spring. Find out what to expect and how to use the carts effectively. Plus, learn the basics of setting up a home compost system — either indoor or outdoor — for the benefit of your garden and houseplants. Need help troubleshooting an existing compost system? Ask your questions to the Q&A at the end of the session.

Date: Saturday, June 5th

Time: 10:00-11:30am

Where: Online

Cost: Free
